Difficulty sleeping can set the body back in many ways.  We need sleep to promote good skin, mind, and gut health.  Our Sleep Aid Balm is crafted to aid those who are having difficulty sleeping by utilizing medicinal plants and oils that promote relaxation, reduction of stress and anxiety, inflammation, and body pain while using Lavender and Cedarwood for natural sedative qualities.  Not only does this balm feel good, it smells great, too.   Here’s to a good, sweet smelling sleep filled night.

Bergamot contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, and is calming, can reduce stress and anxiety, and possesses sedative qualities which lower blood pressure and slow the heart rate in preparation for sleep. Jojoba oil contains vitamins E and B- complex to aid in skin repair and damage control and is found to promote relaxation and relieve stress.  

Lavender contains compounds like linalool and linalyl acetate that have a soothing effect on the nervous system.  Lavender works as an anxiolytic (an anxiety reliever) and as a sedative, to increase relaxation and calm, and help to fall asleep. Lavender interacts with the neurotransmitter GABA to help quiet the brain and nervous system activity, reducing agitation, anger, aggression, and restlessness. Almond oil contains many nutrients that are good for the skin, including vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, and antioxidants while the retinoids in the oil may reduce the appearance of acne and improve cell turnover.

Rosemary is a great source of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds, which help boost the immune system and improve blood circulation.  It has been used to treat muscle pain and arthritis. Olive oil penetrates deep into the skin to provide a long-lasting shield of moisture that keeps skin nourished.  It also contains fatty acids that replenish dry skin.

Ginger is able to reduce inflammation and pain, and help reduce sore muscles, aches, and pain.

Chamomile contains a flavonoid called apigenin which creates a mild sedative effect by binding to receptors in the brain responsible for inducing sleepiness and decreasing anxiety. Avocado is a good source of vitamin E, potassium and lecithin, prevents acne with its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and has fatty acids that help moisturize skin.

Vitamin E Oil moisturizes, soothes irritation, and protects from sun damage.

Ylang Ylang, in combination with lavender and bergamot oil, reduces blood pressure, pulse, stress, anxiety, and cortisol. It can also aid in falling asleep quicker while reducing stress and anxiety.

Cedarwood triggers the release of serotonin in the brain which converts to melatonin, making the essential oil known for its sedative qualities and usefulness in treating insomnia.
