If ever there was a balm that could be multifunctioning at healing ailments, it is the vapor balm.  Many of the botanical ingredients serve the body well in multifaceted ways.  Vapor balm is able to relieve persistent cough, open up congested sinuses, relieve headache when rubbed on the temple, soothe aching and sore muscles all over the body, and reduce inflamed and itchy skin caused by dryness, rash, eczema, insect bites, and fungal infection.  Just read through the ingredients listed below to find the vast array of ways Vapor Balm will improve your well-being and become your botanical best friend. 

Apply this balm on chest for cough, on feet to treat fungal infection, on sore muscles (avoid sensitive areas and eyes), and any where skin is in need of moisturizing and/or relief from itchiness.  I like to put a tiny amount on the tip of my nose right before bed to help with breathing while I sleep.

Ginger is anti-inflammatory and known to reduce muscle pain and soreness. Ginger is also known to increase blood circulation and flush out toxins. Jojoba oil contains vitamins E and B- complex to aid in skin repair and damage control.

Menthol Crystals are great at reducing aches, pain, cramps, sprains, and inflammation.  Menthol is able to help relax muscles while easing tension headaches, nausea, dizziness, and when inhaled through the mouth and nose, menthol’s soothing vapors act as a decongestant helping reduce sinus congestion and symptoms of bronchitis by their ability to promote the airways opening up.

Lemon balm contains calming, sedative, soothing, antispasmodic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.  Lemon balm also contains tannins, which may be responsible for many of the herb’s antiviral effects, and eugenol, which calms muscle spasms, numbs tissues, and kills bacteria.  It is also good for nourishing and soothing the nerve tissue.  

Camphor is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to relieve irritation, itching, and pain. It can also help ease chest congestion by decreasing inflammation in the lungs and throat and acting as a cough suppressant.  Camphor has been known to successfully reduce and treat many respiratory conditions.

Wintergreen contains methyl salicylate, which is closely related to aspirin, and has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties making it a great topical agent that to relieve aching in joints, sore muscles, and lower back pain by reducing swelling in underlying tissue. 

Eucalyptus Globulus Oil helps rid mucus from the congested chest and sinus. When inhaled, vapor made with the essential oil can loosen mucus making it easier to be expelled.

Lemongrass essential oil contains antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that aid in healing cough and cold symptoms.  Lemongrass also contains citral which is very effective in relieving pain in rheumatoid arthritis and decreases inflammation and pain.

Lavender  is known for its anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties that reduce inflammation, lessen pain, and cleanse the surface of skin.

Nutmeg is rich in anti-inflammatory compounds called monoterpenes, including sabinene, terpineol, and pinene. These may help reduce inflammation in your body and benefit those with inflammatory conditions.

Clary Sage Oil is known for its antibacterial, astringent and antiseptic properties and to treat ailments ranging from muscle aches and headaches to digestive and skin issues.  Because it is a natural antimicrobial, Clary Sage Oil has been found to fight sinusitis and congestion caused by bacteria.

Tea Tree Oil’s decongestant and expectorant properties make it beneficial for reducing or relieving respiratory issues by loosening phlegm and mucus in the nose and throat.
